Episode 2: Turning Tragedy Into Stories that Sell with Brian Fies
Brian and I met at his book release party for A Fire Story, a graphic novel in which he tells the story of his house burning down in the Tubbs fire on October 8, 2017. The same fire, in fact, that took my home as well. Brian is an award-winning graphic novelist known for "A Fire Story", "Mom's Cancer", "Whatever Happened to the World of Tomorrow?" and "The Last Mechanical Monster".
Brian discusses his beginnings as a journalist, a chemist, and a freelance science writer and the circumstances that lead to his success in becoming an award-winning graphic novelist. We'll talk about what it takes to turn the most painful and tragic experiences in life into beautiful and profitable works of art.
"A Fire Story" is now available in paperback. Order on Amazon or ask for it at your local bookstore.
